CHERP™ is a Children’s Emergency Response Plan.
It tells emergency responders who should care for your kids in the event of a tragedy.
CHERP™ is a Children’s Emergency Response Plan that YOU create to decide who will care for your little children if you cannot make it back to your home yourself.
Got a sinking feeling in your gut when you drop off your kids at school? You’re right to feel that way. After YOU, the STATE has authority over your children.
In Case of Emergency…
Ready to take control of the worst case scenario?! Get started by making sure first responders (police, paramedics, and EMTs) do not have to take your kids into their custody. If you are no longer able to care for your children due to injury or death, it is the State’s responsibility to secure the safety and care of your child.
If someone with legal authority is not ON SITE, they must take your children into protective custody. If someone with legal authority to care for your children is not nearby, your children may be put into the foster care system to await the arrival and appointment of a guardian by a court in your county.
All families need a CHERP!
Every family in America can benefit from having a CHERP in place–a Children’s Emergency Response Plan that helps first responders identify that a parent in distress has children that need to be located and cared for.
If you have a CHERP, you are helping your children go to those that know and care about them rather than government agencies.
